About Me

I am a self-taught artist based in West Vancouver, British Columbia, and I often retreat to the tranquil Gulf Islands, where the beauty and wildlife inspire me daily. I began painting in the early 1990s but, after years of juggling multiple careers, I’ve only recently embraced my true calling as an artist. Drawing inspiration from my surroundings, my work reflects the ocean, wind, wildflowers, and sometimes even the curved lines of old ships.
My art is defined by my love for bold, vibrant colours and dynamic movement, expressed through big, gestural strokes on large canvases. My primary medium is acrylic, though I occasionally experiment with oils, house paints, and masonite boards. My vibrant imagination brings life to quirky, expressive characters and active florals, creating pieces that evoke joy and connection.
Interestingly, I'm also a synesthete, experiencing numbers, days of the week, months, and sometimes people and places, as colors and textures. This unique perspective infuses a rich layer of emotion and depth into my art, offering viewers a glimpse into my colorful inner world.
Over the years, my artwork has found homes with friends and family, and I recently began showcasing my pieces through the Artisan Collective in North Vancouver. A member of the West Vancouver Community Arts Council, I continue to evolve as an artist, inspired by my surroundings, fellow artists, and the local art community. Outside of my studio, I am a proud mom of two grown daughters and one independent cat.
